Safety standard for Industrial bump caps

Raymond

Last Update 4 years ago

This standard requires the cap to be impacted four times by a 5kg flat steel striker falling with 12J of energy. Penetration testing is carried out four times with 0.5kg conical striker, ensuring that the striker does not contact the headform.

Optional requirements include resistance to flame and electrical properties. A bump cap is intended to provide protection against bumps and scrapes to the head, it should not be used where falling or thrown objects are likely and should not be used where an industrial safety helmet is required.
